In Memoriam
As we prepare to open the doors to our nearly completed Athletics Complex and Student Union, we are proud to honor four cherished members of our community whose lives continue to inspire us.
We are grateful to those who have made memorial gifts in support of these important facilities. Among them is Kendra Scott, whose $25,000 gift in honor of Ben Ledet ’20 was matched dollar-for-dollar.
Thanks to this matching opportunity, all donations to the Athletics Complex & Student Union will go twice as far in helping bring this vision to life. If you would like to join in honoring a loved one through a gift, please click here.
At St. Andrew’s, we often speak of our beloved community, a concept that illustrates our deep connections and commitment to one another. As we prepare to open the doors to our nearly completed Athletics Complex and Student Union, we are proud to honor four cherished members of our community whose lives continue to inspire us.
Within this transformative new facility, we have created special spaces in memory of Ben Ledet ’20, Johnson Dunham ’12, Trent Wilson ’09, and former Head of School Lucy Nazro. These spaces are living reminders of the joy, leadership, and spirit these individuals brought to our school.
We invite you to help us finish strong by supporting these meaningful memorial efforts and ensuring their legacies continue to uplift future generations of Highlanders.
Ben, a St. Andrew’s Lifer, cared deeply about his friends, led with a strong but gentle spirit, and was a passionate and dedicated team member. At his Celebration of Life service in the Upper School Chapel in August 2024, friends and family recounted the many ways that Ben embodied the Athlete pillar of our school, holding himself and others to high standards of excellence, building a sense of community through mutual respect and care, and knowing when to work hard and when to have fun.
With these precious memories in mind, we are dedicating our brand-new Sports Performance Center, a state-of-the-art training facility within our nearly completed Athletics Complex and Student Union, to Ben Ledet. This 5,000-square-foot, multi-use facility will feature a variety of equipment and machines to cultivate the strength and fitness of St. Andrew’s students, as well as garage-style doors that allow for a flexible indoor-outdoor training space. It will be a bustling, vibrant space that we are certain Ben would have frequented and loved. The center will feature signage honoring Ben, accompanied by a QR code that links to a video about Ben’s life and legacy. If you have any photos to share with his family and potentially include in this video, please send them our way!
While nothing can fill the hole that Ben’s loss leaves in the hearts of those who loved him and in our SAS community, we hope that the Ben Ledet ‘20 Sports Performance Center will help us carry on his legacy for generations to come.

A kind, sensitive young man, Johnson was also an outstanding scholar and a gifted athlete. He graduated from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in 2012 before venturing west to UCLA, where he quickly achieved acceptance into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars for academic excellence.
Johnson was an avid sports participant and supporter. He readily rose to a competitive level in any sport he tried. He played seven years of AAU basketball, and, for three years, he was awarded all-conference honors for basketball in the Southwestern Preparatory Conference. He shined on the basketball courts at St. Andrew’s, and it is fitting that we are naming the new competition court in honor of him.
Johnson loved all animals, especially his dog, Shadow. He enjoyed traveling. Visiting India was a life-changing experience, and his favorite city was Barcelona, Spain. Most of all, he treasured his summers in Maine with his family. He loved music, reading, and movies. Johnson looked up to his older brother, Win ‘10, and they adored playing all sorts of games together. You could often find Johnson and his father, Dave, on a court or golf course engaged in serious play or in the stands watching a game. He ran to Mount Bonnell most mornings with his mother, Amy. He also enjoyed good food and meaningful conversation. He was a strategic thinker and had a strong moral compass. More than that, he was a quiet, gentle giant who had great capacity to love.
Johnson was a beloved teammate, student and friend to many at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, and it is our hope that future SAS students will carry on his competitive spirit and integrity as they play and practice on our beautiful new competition court. Trent was the son of proud parents Lauren and Sterling Wilson and a loving twin brother to Grant Kimbell Wilson. A “Lifer” at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, attending from 1st through 12th grade, he developed deep friendships and excelled at sports. He served as Captain of the Varsity Golf and Football teams but golf was Trent’s first love. He became a state ranked golfer and served as President of the Austin Junior Golf Association. He loved that you could spend time outside with people you enjoy and he embodied the spirit of the game, exhibiting good sportsmanship and courteousness to other players.
To celebrate Trent’s legacy, his classmates are raising funds for a special gift in his honor: a golf simulator for the St. Andrew’s Golf Training Program, which will be a feature in the new Athletics Complex & Student Union, scheduled to open in Fall 2025. This facility will provide future generations of golfers an exceptional place to train and develop their skills, just as Trent did. If you would like to contribute in his memory and keep Trent’s spirit alive in the sport he cherished, please click here.

A tribute from Lucy’s daughter, Alice Nazro Nezzer ‘81:
“It is no secret that my mother loved sports.
In fact, even towards the end of her life, she was faithfully watching those Astros games and although she wasn’t able to outwardly cheer, she definitely had a twinkle in her eye. From her days as a Waco High cheerleader to her beloved Longhorn and Astros games, she was also St. Andrew’s biggest cheerleader. She saw sports as a tremendous opportunity to grow healthy bodies, minds and spirits. And let’s be real – she also really liked to win.
Mom and Dad never missed a St. Andrew’s game or a pep rally and she was often on the team bus heading to SPC competitions. She just loved it all. And the students loved her right back.
Our family – my sisters, brother and I, have been trying to think of a way to honor mom. She influenced so many aspects of St. Andrew’s, but we believe this Athletics Complex and Student Union – which combines that notion of mind, body and spirit – is the right place to honor her.
A second gymnasium was always on Mom’s wish list. I know she is smiling down on us in our architect meetings as we pour over the renderings of our beautiful new competition court, practice courts, Spirit Shop, and dedicated student community spaces…it’s just what she would have wanted for our kids and families.
In the plans for our new Athletic Complex there is a beautiful upstairs terrace that overlooks the campus to the south. When you walk outside onto the terrace you can see across the lawn to our beautiful Upper School Chapel, which was one of her favorite buildings on campus.
My siblings Francie, Evvie, Philips and I love that this terrace – connected to the practice courts and with a clear view of the Chapel – pulls together the spirit and the body – chapel and athletics – and that it is a space specifically designed for kids.
In true Lucy fashion, this campaign is a collective effort that will take a lot of hope and faith. And even though she is gone from this earthly world, we think it is fitting to include her in this new facility that she would have been so proud of.”
